About Reyes
A classically trained guitarist and musician, Reyes earned a Bachelor's degree in Music (with classical guitar studies) at the University of California, Santa Barbara. At UCSB, Reyes studied with Mark Covey (a pupil of Christopher Parkening), and since completing his music studies, he has taken mentorship from both jazz guitarists John Storie in LA and Pat Kelley in the Central Coast of California as well as continued mentorship by classical guitarist Marc Teicholz. In 2020, Reyes also obtained a Guitar Intensive Performance Certificate from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, at which time he studied with Marc Teicholz, David Tanenbaum and Judicaël Perroy.
Reyes is a Los Angeles native, he currently lives, teaches and performs in the Seattle, WA area. Reyes plays guitars by Francisco Navarro García and Ariel Ameijenda and uses Savarez strings; for electric guitar, Reyes plays on Ibanez and Gibson guitars and uses D’Adarrio and Thomastik-Infeld strings.
Performing & Teaching
Reyes has extensive solo and ensemble performance experience over the last 20 years, and he has taught professionally for the last 10 years.
At the university level, Reyes performed a 1-hour solo classical guitar recital program at UCSB’s Karl Geiringer Hall in 2012. More recently in 2022, he performed a classical guitar solo and ensemble recital at Cal Poly's Davidson Music Center. He has performed professionally across the Central Coast and Southern California, in Sun Valley, Idaho and currently in the Seattle area.
Reyes has also performed in masterclasses in front of guitar masters, including: Marc Teicholz, David Tanenbaum, Judicaël Perroy, David Russell, Scott Tenant, the LAGQ, and he attended a public masterclass put on by Julian Lage in Los Angeles.
